Do I need a new website, or can my existing one be rebuilt?
When a website rebuild is enough, when you need a brand-new site, and what a rebuild changes: the look, the speed and how easily Google and ChatGPT can read it.
Most small businesses don't need a brand-new website. If your business, services and pages are still right, a rebuild keeps them and replaces what's wrong: the slow, dated code underneath, and the look if you want it refreshed. You need a new website when the business itself has changed, such as a new name, new services or a new audience.
Signs a rebuild is enough
- Your pages and words are still right, but the site feels slow or dated.
- It's slow on a phone. Google's PageSpeed Insights mobile test scores it below 90.
- It's hard to update, or every change needs someone else.
- It needs constant updates to plugins and add-ons, and something breaks each time.
- It already ranks on Google, and you want to keep those pages.
Signs you need a new website
- Your business has changed: a new name, new services or a new type of customer.
- The pages no longer fit what you sell, so most of the words need rewriting.
- You need features the old site never had, such as bookings, accounts or online payments.
Even then, the pages that rank on Google are worth keeping at the same addresses.
What a rebuild changes
The look, if you want
Keep the look your customers know, or show us a site you like and we build yours in that style with your brand.
Your brandThe engine
Clean, fast code with no plugins to update and nothing for hackers to break into.
Fast on a phoneHow Google reads it
Your business, services and area set out the way search engines and AI tools read them.
Google and ChatGPTThe last one matters more each year. Google's local business guidance explains how a site can tell Google its business hours, address and services in a format it reads directly. AI tools such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews rely on the same clear information.
What a rebuild keeps
- Your brand: name, logo, colours and the way you talk to customers.
- Your pages and words: everything that is still right stays.
- Your Google pages: every page Google knows keeps its address. Google's site move guidance explains why: when addresses change without redirects, Google loses track of the pages.
- Your domain: it stays yours.
What it costs
A brand-new small business website from a UK agency often costs £2,000 to £5,000 for a simple site, and £5,000 to £10,000 for one built to bring in leads, according to Web Optic's 2026 price guide.
Our website rebuild is £1k all inclusive for up to 20 pages, paid half to start and half at launch, with free hosting for life on Cloudflare's free plan, within its usage limits. We take on 10 rebuilds a month.
[See the website rebuild](/website-rebuild/), or [request a call back](/website-rebuild/#callback). We will look at your site and tell you honestly whether it needs a rebuild or a new website.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep my website design and just make it faster?
Yes. A rebuild can keep the look your customers know and replace only the code underneath.
Can a rebuild make my website look better?
Yes. Show us a site you like the look of, and we rebuild yours in that style with your own brand.
Will I lose my Google rankings with a rebuild?
Not if every page keeps its address, or redirects permanently to its new one. We check your site first and keep every page Google knows at the same address.
When should I start again with a new website?
When the business has changed enough that most of the pages and words are wrong: a new name, new services or a new audience.
