How much does it cost to rebuild a small business website in the UK?
What UK small businesses pay to build or rebuild a website in 2026, what pushes the price up, what running it costs each year, and what our £1k rebuild includes.
A UK small business website usually costs between £1,000 and £5,000 to build, and a site that brings in leads often costs £5,000 to £10,000 at an agency. A rebuild of a site you already have costs less, because your brand, words and pages already exist. Our website rebuild is £1k all inclusive for up to 20 pages.
What UK businesses pay for a website in 2026
Published UK price guides agree on the shape of the market, if not the exact figures. Get You Online puts a basic brochure site of three to five pages at £1,000 to £1,500, a professional small business site at £1,500 to £3,500, and an online shop from £2,000. Web Optic prices higher: a lean brochure site "often starts around £2,000 to £5,000", a stronger lead-generation site lands "around £5,000 to £10,000", and serious online shops reach £6,000 to £15,000 or more.
Both guides are written by companies that sell websites, so treat the figures as a range, and get two or three quotes against the same written brief.
Why a rebuild costs less than a new website
Most of the cost of a new website is the brief, the copy, the photography and many rounds of design. A rebuild starts from what you already have: your brand, your pages and your words. The look can still change. Show us a site you like, and we build yours in that style with your brand.
What changes is the part underneath, which is usually where a small business website goes wrong. Years of add-ons, plugins and page-builder code make pages slow to load on a phone, and every one of them is something to update and patch. A rebuild replaces that with clean, fast code.
What pushes the price up
- More pages. Most quotes are priced by the page or by bands of pages.
- A shop. Products, a basket and payments add work, which is why every guide prices online shops higher.
- Custom features. Booking systems, calculators, member areas and connections to other software are quoted on their own.
- New content. Copywriting and photography are often extra and are easy to leave out of a comparison.
What it costs to run each year
The build is not the whole bill. Get You Online lists hosting at £20 to £40 a month, a domain at £10 to £20 a year, and optional maintenance at £30 to £100 a month. Over a year, that comes to roughly £600 to £1,700 before any marketing.
Hosting is the cost a rebuild can remove. A static website, one made of finished pages with no database behind them, can be hosted on Cloudflare, where requests to static files are free and unlimited.
